A Few Fun-Filled Firsts

This past weekend was a fun-filled weekend of firsts.  There was my fist time in a swimming pool, my first trip to the library, my first sumo wrestler style ponytail, and my first time meeting my cousins from Colorado.

My First Swim
Unlike my baths, this water experience was not so pleasant.  We took a trip to the local recreation center for a swim on a 90-degree day.  The water however was too cold, there were too many strange people around me, and there was waaay too much noise.  Everyone else seemed to be having a good time.  Especially one little girl who was getting pretty cozy with my mommy.  I had to give her the look that said, “Get your own mother, this one’s taken!!”  So, my assessment of the swimming pool on the baby scale of drool-worthy to poopy: POOPY

My First Library Visit
I really enjoy a good storytime, be it at home during wind down time or at school during circle time.  But who knew there existed a place of just books!?! Books and books and more books! (Or as I like to call them, teeth sharpeners!) And I got to get out of the stroller and walk around like a big kid.  (Let that be a lesson to all you babies: you start walking like a big kid and they’ll treat you like a big kid!)  Another thing I liked about this library was, unlike the pool, it was quiet.  You could really gather your thoughts in a place like this.  Personally, I was thinking, what’s going on with my  hair?  Which leads me to…

My First (Sumo) Ponytail
I’ve heard the talk about my hair and how it makes me look like an old man, with the far back hairline and the bald spots.  Often, people will suggest that mommy cut my hair.  To her, that first haircut symbolizes the end of babyhood and the beginning of toddlerville.  And you KNOW mommy is not ready for that!  So she decided to play around with it and put it in a ponytail where the majority of my hair is…in the middle of my head, hence the sumo wrestler style (which daddy calls “top knot“).  There has been quite a strong reaction to it too.  Some good, some not so good.  And it was while rockin’ the top knot that I….

First Met My Cousins
These people must really be special, at least that’s the impression I got.  Mommy screamed and squealed with delight when she saw them.  I guess our families were super close before they moved out of state.  So far I’ve noticed they make mommy and daddy laugh (yay!); but they keep taking us swimming (boo!)  They keep wanting to hold me (yay!) But they’re also really loud (boo!)  I haven’t all the way figured them out yet, so I’m keeping a close eye on them…for now, I’ll give them a potential drool-worthy status.

There was some other stuff that happened this weekend, but I slept through it.  Doing it all is exhausting!  Until next time, tell me about your baby firsts in the comments.

Hello world!

This is me, looking all cute and stuff

Drew does it all details my life as a baby trying (despite my mom’s best efforts) to grow up.  As her last child, she wants to hang on to my baby-tude, which I understand because I am super cute at this stage.  But I say, don’t stop the inevitable, blog about it.
